On one chilly, mid-March full moon evening in 1963, the world’s most notorious prison – Alcatraz – closed for good. In honour of this inescapable prison, your Full Moon Hash MisMan team has decided to organise a prison break.
Escaping from The Rock may have been seen as an impossible feat 60+ years ago, but three inmates in 1962 managed just that by using a raft made from raincoats. Join us this Friday as we attempt the most daring prison break since!
But just what are we breaking free from, you ask? Our corporate muggle job shackles? Social norms? Constraints on our sexuality? Possibly all of the above!
Break free from your meek human form and embrace your inner lupine werewolf as we traverse the moonlit alleys of 798!
Aaaas we know (as we know), 798 Art District is a former military factory complex built in the 1950s as a joint project between China, East Germany, and the Soviet Union. However, the factories gradually declined and by the 1990s most had ceased production.
Beijing’s contemporary artists started moving in to the now empty Bauhaus-inspired factories and buildings, using the spaces as their working artists’ studios. This artist community thrived and many galleries and art spaces opened, turning 798 into the internationally-renown art destination we know today.
Hash rumour has it that inmate no. 69, aka our very own Full Moon Hash apothecary Bloody Butt Precise, has spent his time behind bars perfecting the art of concocting prison hooch. What he has brewed up using only leftover fruit from meal times and smuggled in contraband will surely blow your prison jumpsuit off. We’re calling it Prison Libre.
“We’ve got runners!” the prison wardens will shout, as a gaggle of drunken hashers stumble their way through 798 to avoid being incarcerated again. We’ll have games of cops vs robbers at the beer stop and other special themed surprises. So cum join us as we explore this architecturally unique area of northeastern Beijing, everyone is welcome!
Dress Code: Wear that sexy police uniform from Halloween! Put on that orange jumpsuit! Finally put those handcuffs that have been laying in your bedside table to use! Or just come donning haberdashery!
