Boxer HHH Run #109: The Cultured Thorn Hash

This month, our Hares, Kiss My Maple Leaf and Banana Hammock, take us to idyllic Jiu Du He (???) to revel in variegated autumn hills, reinvigorate near placid ponds, and, of course, enjoy a sumptuous meal and refreshing beer. The following message is from the Hares of the 109th Beijing Boxer HHH – The Cultured Thorn Hash:
 

Have you ever wondered why the hills around have so many annoying thorn bushes? Well folks, during this month’s Boxer Hash, the answer will be revealed to you. The intrepid farmers in our area actually cultivate them. But fear not, the hares will take you by, not through the local prickle bush orchards.

As we look back on previously enjoyed Boxer Hashes we tend to remember them for specific events … “Remember the hash where the bus got highjacked?” or “Remember the hash ended in the abandoned amusement park?” or “Remember the hash that had no markings?” (of course they remember that one, it was in August). This month’s hash will be fondly remembered for the circle on the cedar deck out on the water with ducks and geese swimming round, the fall colours of the trees, the idyllic setting, & of course the fabulous backyard BBQ afterwards. Folks the post run circle/bash site is a beautiful one. Definitely worth coming just for the experience.

 

Notes on the run: There will be a short trail cut option for walkers and struggling runners. Short trail is about 7.5-8 km, long trail 14-15 km. We are in the foothills of the mountains so no major climbs, just rolling hills. Minimal shiggy. Bash site will have German beer available for hashers who want to self fund their PiJiu.

 

***NOTE: Dinner is outside, dress appropriately. Evenings can get quite cool in the mountains during November. They will have heaters, but bring warm clothes.
